Terms of use

What the numbers are, what they aren't, and how to reuse them.

Read the numbers as estimates

Shift hours, labels and rankings are estimates built from public data about tasks. They describe a typical day in an occupation and can't speak to any one person's job. Use them as a starting point; for career, legal or money decisions, check the original sources and talk to someone qualified.

Accuracy

Every company story is traced to its source, and confirmed errors get fixed. Even so, public data has gaps and changes over time, so the site is offered as is, without warranties.

Reusing our work

Job data in jobs.json is free to reuse with a credit and link to Who's on the Clock. Underlying data keeps its own license: O*NET (CC BY 4.0), Anthropic Economic Index (CC BY), BLS (public domain) and Indeed Hiring Lab (CC BY 4.0). Time card images and our writing are ours. Embeds and links are welcome; please don't copy or rehost them in bulk.

Using the site

Read, link, quote and embed freely. Scraping the site, bulk downloading or trying to break or overload it isn't allowed.
