Will AI take jobs in South Carolina?

How much of South Carolina's work is AI touching? In South Carolina, AI and robots touch about 2h 14m of the average worker's 8-hour shift, across the 654 jobs we can match to state data (2.1M workers). That's about the same as the U.S. average of 2h 12m, and the 10th highest of 50 states, DC and Puerto Rico. Most of the workday, about 5h 46m, still goes to tasks with no documented AI or robot use.

Each job has the same time card in every state, so differences between states come only from the mix of jobs people do there. Pay and job counts are BLS May 2025 state figures; shift hours come from each job's time card.
