Will AI take jobs in New Jersey?

How much of New Jersey's work is AI touching? In New Jersey, AI and robots touch about 2h 18m of the average worker's 8-hour shift, across the 653 jobs we can match to state data (3.9M workers). That's 4% more than the U.S. average of 2h 12m, and the 4th highest of 50 states, DC and Puerto Rico. Most of the workday, about 5h 42m, still goes to tasks with no documented AI or robot use.

Each job has the same time card in every state, so differences between states come only from the mix of jobs people do there. Pay and job counts are BLS May 2025 state figures; shift hours come from each job's time card.
